How long should you use disposable foam earplugs for? Can you just wash them and keep using them?

Go to Walmart and get a huge jar of them; they are relatively cheap when you buy in bulk. Wear them until the get gross or until your dog eats them and poops them out like my dog does. My dog is a jerk.
