I am a new owner of two fire bellied newts. i need to change the water, can i leave them in the tank ?

I have two lovely fire bellied newts, i have had them a week now and they seem to be doing fine. I was going to do a water change tonight as its smelly and a bit over the temp it should be. Can i leave them in the tank or do they have to come out. if so what is the best thing to put them in? thank you
